SEXTON DEMOLITION LIMITED

The works comprised the careful demolition in four phases, down to top of lowest slab level, with follow-up breaking out and grubbing up of ground floor slabs, foundations and footings of the existing ‘Old Shippams Building’ and the ‘Shippams Social Club’ complete, excluding a section of the existing facade to the ‘Old Shippams Building’ along East Walls, (including a small return to East Street), which was retained.

All solid concrete slabs foundations and footings were carefully lifted and removed under the presence of archaeology watching brief.

The extent of the buildings to be demolished was split between two separate sites.  The larger of the two sites, the ‘Old Shippams Production Building’, was located to the East side of Chichester’s main Shopping Centre, adjacent to East Row, East Walls and East Street.

The second, smaller site, the ‘Shippams Social Club’, was located on the opposite side of East Walls road from the ‘Old Shippams Building’ adjacent to Grade I listed Roman East Wall.
